PHOENIX, July 20, 2011 // – Grand Canyon University (GCU) is expanding its Transfer Scholarship program for Washington students moving from the community to the university’s Phoenix campus. Public colleges and universities, while many other educational institutions are raising tuition fees.
All Washington students who transfer to GCU this fall with a GPA of at least 3.0 will receive an academic scholarship ranging from $3,000 to $7,000 annually. These scholarships are offered along with many other academic, athletic, and program scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $10,000.
For example, a student transferring to Washington with a 3.5 GPA qualifies for a $7,000 Presidential Automatic Transfer Scholarship for the academic year. If this student wishes to pursue post-secondary education, they will also receive a College of Education Scholarship of $4,000 per academic year. Student tuition for this year: $5,500, not GCU’s published tuition of $16,500.
Tuition, Financial Aid & Scholarships
GCU is a 60-year-old accredited private Christian university known for its programs in education, nursing, and health sciences. The university is currently undergoing a $200 million expansion of its campus, with full-time faculty, small classes averaging 17 students per class, and an exciting, engaging atmosphere—all at or below the price of attending a public university.
In the fall of 2010, approximately 75% of students on campus received institutional scholarships, averaging $5,500 per student. The amount of grants awarded exceeded $10.5 million.
In addition to these scholarship programmes, the University of Glasgow New Caledonia is continuing the tuition freeze that began in 2009 for current and incoming students taking classes on campus.
“These scholarship programs, combined with the extended tuition freeze, make private education very affordable – especially with tuition increases at many in-state universities,” said Brian Mueller, CEO of Grand Canyon University. “We are seeing tremendous enrollment growth as many high-performing students benefit from the improvements to our academic programs, on-campus housing, recreation, classroom and athletic facilities.”
