We are working to have less paper in our office, so Community Force helped us keep everything in one place. Scholars United is a wonderful resource with their videos and their support is amazing. I contacted them for a few days in complete panic and they were always helpful and supportive. I could not have asked for better service! They always explain things in the simplest possible terms and provide screenshots to show me what I need to know. Service +!
Easy to use! I like to create sections for my applications because it is very simple and easy to understand. I’ve created several scholarship and grant applications with minimal hassle, and each one can be customized with multiple options! We also enjoy learning all the new features that we can use over time. It’s good to know that when I set something up in CF it will work. One thing we can look forward to in the future is blind applications.
I least like the restrictions on reports that can be run from the system. There is a built-in AdHoc reporting feature, but it is only available in Excel. I wish there were different ways to run reports – mostly Microsoft Word or Publisher. Our problem is that we have essays for some of our scholarships and trying to put a block of essays into an Excel spreadsheet is impossible to make it user friendly! I would like to see reports where every qualifying student can get all the information they need on one page of the report. Thus, if there are 15 students who meet the criteria, the report will have 15 pages, one for each student. An Excel spreadsheet is easier to read than one that scrolls.
We have been a Community Force client for just under a year. Before moving to the CommunityForce solution, we used our own custom-built solution to support 6 individual scholarship programs. As with many domestic systems, it has reached a point where we can no longer support it. But most importantly, we as an organization have finally realized that we are not software developers. Our goal is our mission, which is to provide educational opportunities to women. After an exhaustive search, we chose the CommunityForce solution. It is a decision that we are rightfully reminded of every day. As you can imagine, using a custom-built solution tailored to our business processes, some parts of the system were unique to our organization. These aspects became part of our operating policy, which became requirements for the Community Force. CommunityForce took action and quickly added functionality to our solution that took into account our uniqueness. To this day, they continue to provide solutions rather than creating obstacles to our requests. As with implementing any new technology, there are always challenges, but the CommunityForce team has always been there and has been there to help us overcome them. Their implementation approach and solution intuition enable us to develop additional application workflows ourselves, with the support of the Community Force team, as needed. I think the best way to sum up our experience with Community Force to date is to say this. While we are fully aware that CommunityForce has hundreds of clients like us, we feel like we are their only client. We are committed to becoming customers for life!

We have found that users of our scholarship platform find that the software is easy to enter information and does not exceed technical requirements. Additionally, we realized that once we learned the system, it became easier for us to work with administrators. If you have good technical skills, you will love the autonomy of this system.
It wasn’t always easy to log in, clone an application, and then make the necessary changes to the new application. Finding the best way to proceed requires a lot of study and watching a lot of videos. To be fair, it was a self-service platform and one must have a very good understanding of the technologies required to fully implement the application platform. Additionally, it was impossible to simultaneously and easily open, issue, and track multiple applications, which was required for our college savings account application. There was no way to develop student profiles and connect emails directly to students through tracking that spanned an extended period of time.

Time management is exceptional when implementing and using scholarship management software. The ability to submit and send reviewers within 24 hours of the submission deadline is incredible. We were able to accept applications within 3-4 months. Then send the group to the reviewers, in a very short period (2 weeks) that would have taken 30 days or more, rate and award everything. The electronic documentation of the neutral and blind review process is simple and efficient.
We have found the scholarship management software integration with our applications very easy to use and implement. Receiving multiple applications allowed applicants to apply for multiple scholarships, increasing the total number of applicants for consideration. Additionally, the software allowed us the ability to customize questions, define specific donor criteria for each scholarship, refine letters of recommendation with specific questions, and upload supporting documents.
The most challenging aspect is that we are in a system where grants and scholarships are organized regularly throughout the year. We implemented the software when Community Force was launching a new platform, so our training was initially done on the old platform. However, additional training was available, but the step-by-step written instructions worked best for us. Once you have a general understanding of how the system works, keeping online support updated with program changes becomes important. Our only other issue is the inability to call and speak directly to customer service. We have found that submitting a problem via email or chat does not speed up resolution. Overall support is excellent.
