Answer: I chose my major during the last semester of high school. I wasn’t even sure if I would continue my education in Mexico or the US. During the last few months of my high school experience, I decided to pursue a degree in the United States in biomedical engineering. At the time, my grandfather was battling cancer and the treatment he was undergoing. I wanted to be a part of it and understand and gain as much knowledge as possible about it. When my grandfather was diagnosed with kidney and prostate cancer, the limited treatment options as a high-risk patient led to the inevitable. This has always been a great motivation for me and made me realize the importance of innovative technology to treat the disease and reduce the limited treatment options, and I intend to work on it.
